What They Do:
Why we like it:
Behind the numbers:
- •Net Unit Growth Has Slowed Significantly: Crumbl added a net of 281 units in 2023, 87 in 2024, and just 42 in 2025. The system crossed 1,100 locations and is still expanding, but the pace has dropped by roughly 85% from its peak growth year, a pattern worth tracking for anyone evaluating territory availability and market saturation.
- •Wide Sales Gap Across the System: Among the 776 outlets that operated continuously through 2025, the highest-grossing store reported $3,421,762 in annual gross sales while the lowest reported $365,129. The average was $1,139,162 and the median $1,093,071. That spread suggests location quality is a significant driver of outcome, not just the brand itself.
- •Total Fee Burden Runs Higher Than the Royalty Line Suggests: The 8% royalty is above average for a food franchise, but the full ongoing fee picture adds a 2% marketing fund contribution, a $650/month technology fee, and a potential 1-2% cooperative advertising fee if the franchisor establishes one, putting total recurring fees at 10% or more of gross sales before factoring in rent, labor, and food costs.

Pre-opening support includes territory designation, site approval within two weeks of written notification, written equipment and supplier specifications, store layout and design specs, and a pre-opening premises inspection. Ongoing support after opening includes regular operating manual updates, remote consultations by phone, email, or video conference, optional in-person operational assistance on request, periodic store inspections, webinars, and ongoing training seminars. There is no veteran discount or incentive program disclosed in this FDD. Technology fee of $650 per month covers platform access.
